Katharina Thalbach

The unmistakably virtuoso theatre and film actress

Katharina Thalbach is one of the most important German theatre and film actresses of the present. She has also enjoyed significant success as a director, and is also active as an audio book, radio play and dubbing artist. She was born in 1954 as the daughter of actress Sabine Thalbach and director Benno Besson. At the age of 13 she became a master student of Helene Weigel. In 1991 she was awarded the Konrad Wolf Prize of the Berlin Academy of Arts. For "Hanni & Nanni 2" she was awarded the "Golden Sparrow" for best actress in 2012. In January 2020 she received the Ernst Lubitsch Prize for her role in "Ich war noch niemals in New York".
